A flat major (a positive note)

I was tired of the silence and the unanswered and unreturned calls. I was making so much effort here. I was sad picking out Hitomi's underwear from the laundry basket and placing them in a separate bag in case she ever called for them.
I resorted to Plan B, well plan B47 really. I'd called her agency and left messages there and with her sister and her Mother too and I'd even gone over to Kichijoji looking for her.

Finally I heard her voice.
"We need to talk" I said into the phone.
I'd actually used Rina's, my brother's girlfriend's phone so that my number wouldn't show up on her screen.
"At least I need to talk to you and know what's happening because I won't have the chance again for a week since I'm flying out of town this weekend.
"Where are you going?" she asked in an almost disinterested tone.
"I'm flying to Okinawa for a location shoot" I said
"Oh my stars, I'm going there too on Sunday night after the last performance." she said excitedly.
The beginning of a long conversation started just like that as both eased into the exchange.

And so it was that two girls drawn together by fate and destined to be with each other always closed that terrible and isolated distance as they were drawn back together again by perseverance and a little conversation over a telephone. A parting of the ways by a complete misunderstanding doubtlessly assisted by idle gossip (most of it engineered), fatigue, unclear heads and a need for space.
I'd heard of the rumor about Hitomi and Miyako, the girl with the piercing black eyes. I did what any true and faithful lover would do - I dismissed it out of hand as the untrue and malicious words that they were. I know Hitomi better than that. I had asked her about that girl and she'd told me that she had sat and chatted with her and nothing else. I knew I'd felt a little left out because she hadn't told me about it at the time. We usually share everything. However this time Hitomi had now heard about Miyako and I sitting together at the Mars and apparently when I left, she'd followed me out and then when I'd decided to stay out all night to watch the Japan soccer game against Denmark, Hitomi had believed that I'd gone to meet with her.
Oh the pain and the agony!
Almost five years together and this wicked witch Miyako comes along and has been spreading rumors to drive a wedge between us? Why? I will certainly speak to her about that!

I am flying out from Haneda to Miyako Island on Saturday afternoon along with T.W. from my agency for a location shoot and Hitomi is on the same set of shoots but she is not flying out until Sunday when her theater run in Kichijoji ends.
Finally, after all of our dreaming and hoping, we are going to work together.
I dread to imagine what could have happened had we not talked and not sorted things out and suddenly saw each other in Okinawa (laughs - almost nervously).
We're in love again!
The only sour note played on that old piano is that the girl with the piercing black eyes has the same name as the island! She'll feel the clef when I return for inserting her falsetto into our duet and don't expect a refrain!
