The Twilight of the Gods

As the cycles of the heavens progressed and Wagner played out to an almost deserted cafe near the bus station, I sat alone, idly twirling my weiß gold, waiting for my phone to ring. The chair opposite me was empty where I imagined her invisible as Alberich and she could regard my drinking away the time with the ghosts of Hudson's crew. Perhaps many daughters of Wotan have sat waiting while the 'norns' weave idle tapestries.
Short are we for the celebrations of Saturnalia but a chance to enjoy another romantic night together drives our impetus. She was late and her phone was unavailable. I was worried!

On Saturday morning Hitomi went off to dance class as is her habit and I went for my December scan and tests. I thought Doctors were supposed to reassure patients? My Doctor said that I had put on weight and that was not exactly what I wanted him to say and perhaps he saw that in my eyes and continued that due to what my body has undergone this last year it is a very encouraging sign. Needless to say I didn't give him any further looks of encouragement!
Then I had the questions about how easy I was fatigued, if my appetites were healthy (not only what I eat) and did I suffer any depression? I so wanted to tell the Doctor that I am happy and was happy until he said that I was fat! Yes Doctor you made me depressed, I thought.
"No, no depression, no mood swings I said smiling with as much aplomb as a Cheshire cat!"

Saturday night had me at home living up to my disappointedly sparse social calendar of late. The devil making work of idle hands had me venturing into computer chat once more but I'm happy to say that it does not hold any addictive fascinations for me any longer.
Sunday was the morning that I decided not to hibernate and to work my body a little. I dragged my protesting body out of our bed and left Miss "I promise to wake up early" snoring in dream-land and I went swimming and all the while I was breast stroking I was thinking of the treadmill in the gym for the afternoon. Unhappily I have to report that I didn't get to the gym in the afternoon due to Nanako coming around again with more of those little cakes. She said that she was so happy that I enjoyed them last week that it was a pleasure for her to make more and bring them. I caught Hitomi silently giggling from the corner of my eye. It's a conspiracy!
After Hitomi and Nanako left, I did 25 stomach crunches in 5 minutes, five minutes rest and then did 25 more. I stopped later due to a small tummy ache!

All of this brings me back to my Monday evening in the bus station. Hitomi was working in the day and had asked me to wait here for her at the bus station cafe and she'd meet with me. I couldn't stand the waiting after forty five long lonely minutes and no cell connection. Wagner gives me an appetite and I ordered a bowl of rice with shrimp much to the delight of the waiter who seemed disappointed with a party dress sat at an empty table and a chef that had nothing better to do than read the evening paper.
Finally I got a call saying that she was only leaving work now and she'd be here in twenty minutes. Perhaps the Gods of twilight hours eased their torture or me because I was going to eat and leave. She arrived just as I finished eating with a thousand apologies but just one was enough. I was so happy that our restaurant booking was not going to be wasted. I'd ordered a little cake to be presented after our meal which simply said "together".

I called the taxi and we went over to Shinjuku and spent our evening in a secluded and quiet little restaurant. The meal passed quietly with subdued conversation about our day and writing out our New Year plans until the cake came when the noise level rose a little. I noticed Hitomi give a little nod to the head waiter and he brought in for me a most beautiful and stunning bouquet of flowers from the love of my life. That silly girl just over does it and makes me cry at times. Tears for joy I will add.
For my revenge I made her lose as many calories as I did that night. I think we both ran the marathon!

I look fat!

  1. You don't look fat! You just need to buy another mirror ;)
No, I'm kidding, you are not fat, Momo. It's winter and it's typical that we put on weight. When Spring comes we lose our fat much more easier. For now just think about fun with trampoline (wink and hug).

50 tummy crunches? Come on, you can do much more! When I started my daily excercises I was able to do only... 15! I had been always avoiding it because my tummy muscles was very weak. After we start excercise regurarly our brain prepares us for bigger physical effort and we can do tummy crunches everyday more. For now, after a few weeks of excercising routine, I can do 100 tummy crunches with no rests. I'm sure if you excercise everyday as many crunches as you can and increase their number everyday you will be eable to do much more very quickly. Just don't give up and do it regurarly, I believe in you and your tummy muscles ;) Good luck my future model!

You look fabulous in this dress - like little princess! I really like this outfit and it is great look for 4th anniversary with Hitomi. Let me wsh both of you wonderful future together and sweet moments of joy.

    Many hugs from little sister

  2. Five minutes of stomach crunching: During the five minutes, my arms, my legs and my head/shoulders do not once touch the floor!
When I am open, my arms & legs are out-stretched but 15cm off of the floor and my head too.
At closure my body is balanced on my buttocks, my knees are up, my arms folded over my tummy and my upper body at 45° to the floor.
To do 25 in 5 minutes means holding the open and the close position for six seconds each. Twelve seconds is one complete movement.

Thanks, the dress was a little something I picked up in Shagadelic in 109 from their Evening party rail!
